About thirteen years ago

About thirteen years ago, I was a six-year-old kindergartener. One day, Mother gave me a notebook. It was a diary. I could write anything I wanted to and she gave me short comments everyday.

Mother wrote a lot of advice for me, but I was particularly impressed by these two passages. One is, "If you have something you want to do, pluck up your courage and try as hard as you can." The other is, "Even if you have things you cannot do, never give up!" It is impossible to do something perfectly from the beginning, but we practice little by little everyday. That is, the secret of success is to never give up and try hard as you can.

In those days, I didn't know exactly what she wanted to say, but now -- after more than ten years -- I can. When I am worried, have difficulties, feel sad and have to decide by myself, I always read my diary. I become energetic, so I've read it over and over.

I believe this is her message to me. Mother wants me to live like she has. I think these things are very important in my life. Now she may have forgotten about this notebook, but I think much of it.

In the future, many difficulties may arise. I do trust Mother -- her advice -- so whatever happens, I will try as hard as I can.
