Below are links to different sorts of help that might get you started on your own story for Mother Millennia.

  • An Archaeology of the Mother
Here you'll find a five-part writing assignment created by a writing teacher in upstate New York. It takes the perspective of an archaeological dig for the information needed to write about your mother. The suggestions for how to proceed could also be applied to someone besides your own mother, say a grandmother, or a friend's mother. Indeed, these suggestions could as well be used to create a story in some other medium besides language; for instance, drawings, or recordings, or photos (see note about "Collected Visions" below).

  • Someone's Mother
This is a continually growing list of interview questions (currently 27 of them) which can be used in whole or in part, and in a variety of ways, to begin putting together a story about someone's mother.

  • Collected Visions
If you are interested in creating a story using family photos, you will surely want to take a look at this website. You can search their archives for photographic works submitted by others, and also find the means for creating your own. Perhaps you will be so inspired you will want to create a story for both Mother Millennia and Collected Visons.
